Makfa to enter UK market in 2019, may launch sales via Amazon

LONDON, Nov 20 (PRIME) -- Russian pasta producer Makfa plans to enter the U.K. market in 2019 by offering its products in the country’s retail chains, as well as via electronic commerce platform Amazon, Managing Director Anton Belousov told PRIME on Tuesday.

“We plan to enter the U.K. market in September next year. And we’ve set the target of selling 1,000 tonnes of pasta here by 2023. This is around U.S. $1 million of revenue,” he said.

Makfa is currently holding talks with two or three potential distributors and will choose its official distributor by the end of the year.

“Probably, pasta sales will be also held through Amazon, who themselves came to us, and we are currently holding talks with them,” Belousov said.

Makfa currently exports its products to 28 countries. The company plans to raise the share of exports in its total revenue to 30% by 2023 from 9–10% now.
